Our most recent luncheon

Bruce Huffman thanks Phil Osterli for his talk

The Catalina Mountain Chapter held its most recent luncheon meeting on Saturday, November 15, at SaddleBrooke Ranch. Our speaker was Phil Osterli, Colonel, US Army, retired, an Army helicopter pilot. Phil graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1963 and entered active duty in January 1966. Upon completion of flight school he was assigned to the 335th Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam. Phil served as an armed helicopter pilot, aircraft commander, and platoon commander in Vietnam through December 1967. Phil talked about the units he served with, the helicopters he flew, some of the mission he flew, and had many photos of his time in Vietnam. Phil flew 586 combat hours and earned a Distinguished Flying Cross during his service in Vietnam."
